Birdy Magazine. Creative Direction.

If you live in Denver, you’ve probably seen stacks of Birdy Magazine at all the cool-kid haunts. Birdy is a fantastic Frankenstein of comedy, art, culture, and all things Denver. As a submissions driven publication, they are always sharing new and daring content,  They are “available monthly wherever cool stuff lives,” Check ’em out!

I have been reading Birdy since the beginning. I always picked up a copy any time I found myself at the Denver Bike Cafe, The Denver Museum of Contemporary Art, or at The Source. One day, it hit me, “Why on earth isn’t Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains advertising in this magazine! It reaches our target demographic and is FREE for those folks who come into our health centers.” So I brought the idea in, everyone loved it and PPRM has been sponsor for Birdy since June. Sometimes the answer is right there in front of you… You just have to connect the dots.

I wanted to produce an eye-catching advertisement that would be sex-positive, representative of the majority of our patients, and wouldn’t look like every other health center advertisement. The below image was our follow-up advertisement in issue 32 of Birdy. Both ads were shot by Ali Bibbo, with creative direction from yours truly.
